The US west coast has something going for it in terms of coffee. There are a number of trend setting coffee shops that have spread to the rest of the country. Then there are some coffee shops that have superior coffee, but it is the coffee, not the shop that has covered the country. Tully’s is just such a coffee. Tully’s® has built a reputation in the Northwest area for their tradition of artisan roasting. Their master roasters have developed a roasting method which brings all five senses to the roasting process. They use a hands-on approach that allows them to focus on the sights, smells, and sounds. This personal approach allows them to know just when they have captured just the right flavors at just the right moment.

For the Tully’s roasters, patience is a virtue. They don’t rush the process. The coffees are roasted more slowly, at a lower roasting temperature, than their competitors. The result speaks for itself. The flavor of each cup is smooth, delighting the palette of the most discerning coffee affecttionato.

According to a Tully’s press release about its newest coffee offerings, the K cups, “Even before we opened the first Tully’s store in Seattle, Washington back in 1992, we made a promise to offer the finest coffees available by sourcing only Arabica beans from the world’s best coffee-growing regions.”

Tully’s, after providing quality brew in the US Northwest for years, has now partnered with Green Mountain Coffee to provide two outstanding K Cup blends to the rest of the world. There is Tully’s French Roast, an extra bold offering, and there is also Tully’s Kona Blend, a mild blend.

In a review of Tully’s French Roast K Cup, SingleServe.com writes this:

The French roast is the first K-Cup coffee in a long time to have that crispy dark french roast bite and finish you expect to get when mixing down a little milk and sugar with it. The result is a super smoky taste with a feeling of being right in a coffee house – perhaps a Tully’s coffee house?

The Tully’s French Roast is in their Extra Bold Category – so that means there’s an extra amount of coffee in the K-Cup to provide you with extra flavor and taste. Trust me – you can taste it. We emptied out a new french roast K-Cup and found there to be the stated 11.5 grams of coffee (note: the napkin weighed in at .2 grams so just deduct).

What else can we say? It’s just really good French Roast coffee. Really good.

The “other” Tully’s blend is Kona Blend. This is an extra smooth, not quite so bold blend. It has plenty of taste, well, “yummy” comes to mind. Each cup tastes exactly the same, due to the unique packaging of the K Cup.

Tully’s Kona Blend is this reviewer’s favorite K Cup. Add a little coffee cream and sugar… YUM!!
