I have a theory about why individual servings are better than using bulk ground coffee. My reason is twofold.
First, the coffee that put into individual servings by the manufacturers is the best. They wouldn’t dare put inferior coffee into their cups and then charge an average of $.50 for each one. They would not get any business doing that.
Second, the grounds stay fresher. They are put into the plastic cups and sealed immediately after the roasting and grinding process. No air gets to them to cause deterioration of the grounds at all. When you use bulk ground coffee, usually the first batch you make is the best, at least that has been my experience. After the first, you can’t duplicate the taste. That’s because there is air getting to your ground coffee. The oxygen and humidity do a job on the grounds that changes the taste. But if you have tried K cups, you know that they are always fresh tasting, never stale.
